Your distribution network operator is National Grid Electricity Distribution
Nottingham is in the East Midlands licence area of National Grid Electricity Distribution, formerly Western Power Distribution and before that East Midlands Electricity. The names change, the network does not.
A commercial array requires a G99 application and approval prior to energisation. The operator publishes capacity information by area, which is the right place to start on a scheme large enough that export could be questioned.
On most city buildings, where consumption is substantial and export is limited, capacity is not the binding constraint. It becomes one on large roofs attached to modest loads, which is where an export limitation device earns its cost.

The university and student accommodation estate
Between the two universities and the private accommodation operators, a very large share of the city's non domestic floor area is education related. Teaching buildings, laboratories, sports centres, catering and residential blocks all behave differently and should not be treated as one estate.
Laboratory and catering buildings hold high year round base load and are the best candidates. Residential blocks offset the landlord supply, which carries lighting, lifts, ventilation and hot water regardless of whether the rooms are occupied.
The seasonal mismatch on student housing, where the emptiest months are the sunniest, matters less than it appears for exactly that reason. It is the communal supply the array is displacing.

Measured data matters more here than elsewhere, because reported reductions need evidence. Monitoring should be specified as part of the installation rather than added afterwards.

The professional office core has the usual weekday daytime profile and the usual plant crowded roofs, so usable area is the question rather than whether the load matches.
Out towards the motorway corridor the building type becomes large single storey distribution, which the East Midlands has in quantity because of its position on the national road network. Big roofs, simple structures, and a load that varies enormously between a cross docked unit and an automated or chilled one.
Where a distribution site plans fleet or van charging, that changes the case decisively, turning surplus generation into self consumption. Size the array with the charging plan rather than before it.
